Friday 19th June - Sunday 21st June 2009
Annual Open
Water Tournament is a huge Success!
The UK's largest single Water Polo event is happening again this year at
the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham.
The East Midlands Open Water Tournament is now in its seventh year.
Last year the event attracted 40 teams, more than 100 matches were
played in six specially constructed pitches.
I am pleased to confirm that the tournament will be
going ahead on the 19-21 June again at the National Water Sports
Centre on the outskirts of Nottingham on their 270 acre site with
teams camping in the commercial campsite or using the Centres accommodation.
The matches will be held in the main competition
lake, the camping will be in the "team" area of the
on-site commercial camp site. There will be catering
provided at the competition area throughout the competition day with
a bar and food available and a full entertainment program on the
Friday and Saturday nights in the competition area.
Friday night there will be a disco and hot
food and on Saturday night the BIG Tournament party, hot food
and BBQ in the new entertainment area.
The tournament is for men's and ladies teams,
last year 28 men's and 16 women's teams competed, this year we are
anticipating 50+ teams.
Each team will play at least five matches with
more than120 matches being played in the day of the competition.
The Men's seeded teams have pre-dominantly
been National League sides with teams from Portugal and
Holland and a large number of University sides competing in previous
years.
The unseeded men's teams are a wide range of
standards from Local league to Regional standard.
The ladies is a similar mix with 50% of the sides
being University, a smattering of National League sides and a some
local league sides.
The tournament is played on a friendly, social
basis with the emphasis being on having a good time and enjoying some
polo, we try to ensure that everyone has a great weekend.
